Josef's vision as director for A Man Like Me was described as "Doing simple things well" He provided me a variety of Drama films to watch as reference including Blue Bayou (2021), On the Waterfront (1954) and La Haine (1995) - which after watching for the first time has become one of my all time favourites.

All of these films were edited with the same philosophy communicated by Joe, Thus with A Man Like Me my main aim was to communicate the story of Tommy and Al by giving life and cohesion to the brilliant performances of Ben O'Toole and Jason Chong.

As well as doing this, I also applied my skills to create other aspects of the media package such as the poster in photoshop and a short trailer for the film as shown above.

Final timeline / Overall project folder
There was a meticulous amount of drafting and alternative cuts experimented with throughout the editing process to achieve this focus on performance. I ensured to maintain a tidy timeline and project folder to keep things efficient and understandable.
Colour Grade + LUT
Visually we drew influence from the KODAK VISION 3 500T Film stock which was used to create the aesthetic of Blue Bayou (2021) replicating its fine grain structure in post and emphasising the dynamic range of the footage, a key characteristic of VISION 3 film stock.

After editing the timeline in Premiere Pro, we exported the picture lock to Davinci Resolve and spent a day with the Director and Director of Photography present to fine tune the aesthetic of the film and match any errors with colour temperature shot on the day due to the constant changing weather and cloud cover that we were forced to adapt to and work around.

I also acted as 2nd AC on set, Clapping each shot and taking notes on performances to assist with the production whilst giving myself an overall understanding of what footage we were working with and had available.
